What Is Gravity Die Casting?

Gravity die casting is a permanent-mold casting process in which molten non-ferrous metal (commonly aluminum or zinc) is poured into a reusable steel or cast-iron die and allowed to fill and solidify under gravity. Compared with high-pressure die casting, it uses simpler equipment and lower tooling stress while delivering good surface finish, consistent part quality, and moderate dimensional accuracy—attributes well suited for custom faucet components. The method is economical for medium production runs (roughly 250–50,000 units annually), offering faster cycle times and better repeatability than sand casting, with reduced labor and improved total cost of ownership when durable metal dies are used.
